It's always so hard not to do all the the pent-up things you want to do when you come out of a hard spell, isn't it? This all sounded pretty gentle--at least, I hope it was. Thanks for inviting us along.

Always! This is part of the problem I think (I know) I go pell mell back into life then crash again. The alternative is to just live a very careful, measured way and I really don't want to do that - I have friends who have no choice but whilst I can I want to keep plunging back in. It was a lovely day 😊

I’m so glad the prompt spoke to you. I can’t wait to read what you come up with.

It was just right at the end of a busy day - a simple meditation on beautiful things 😊

Firstly, that ink colour is gorgeous- name please. Love you are writing out by hand. Your handwriting is beautiful and has so much personality. I've struggled with planners, I can't do as much as you do (1 thing a day is my usual limit) and I find they make me overestimate my ability and I stress too much about it. And most of all, I'm really pleased you are feeling better.

It's called Eau de Nil - I do love it ! I tend to write by hand first, then onto the computer, then redraft, print out if I'm struggling, and redraft again. I feel more connection with what I'm writing when I write by hand so the act of typing up gives me the necessary distance to be critical. I think 😆 Planners aren't for everyone - I function much better with a list and am happy to carry jobs over but I can see how they are a stress point!

I’m so interested in poetry - I don’t really write it myself, but I feel like this year is the year to start - so it was lovely to hear your musings, your lesson tips, and to feel the excitement at being back to it coming through your words!

Thank you! Absolutely this is the year to start - there’s no “right” way to do it, the most important thing is to write I think. If you’re interested in honing your skills I recommend @Stephen Fry The Ode Less Travelled as well as The Craft which is published by Nine Arches. I also find Ruth Padel’s “52 ways of looking at a poem” incredibly helpful when it comes to understanding why particular poems have the impact and effect that the do. The most important thing is to read lots of it! Look forward to seeing your first piece xx

Thank you so much for the tips! I’ve written one poem that was published on Dear Damsels, but that’s really it. I naturally tend toward prose but poetry has been calling to me recently, so these are great tips!
