Wow Kathryn, from where I’m standing that all sounds so positive. A longlist, three magazine publications and such a positive note from Imtiaz Dharker. I’m getting nowhere, but then I’m not really submitting, I’m keeping away from Substack and social media which suck me in and concentrating on reading. There’s so much great stuff out there. It all sounds very encouraging.x
Thank you - once I started writing it and got over my disappointement about not getting further in the competition I realised it is all pretty good stuff. I’ve slipped on the reading front - early mornings are taken up with garden stuff (which is lovely) but I do need to get more reading into my day.
So lovely to hear what you are up to! Congratulations on your publications, seeing your name in print is such a wonderful recognition. The disappointments are hard too. I hope you are still finding the joy in the words despite the set backs!
It's really nice to hear from you here. For whatever it's worth, I haven't published anything on my Substack since the first week of this month. Maybe a monthly (or so) check in like this would work for you?
But apart from all that, congratulations! On everything! If being away from here is necessary to the kind of progress you're reporting, I agree that you've absolutely made the right choice in limiting your time here. I'm so happy for you that even the "no, thank yous" are encouraging and helpful.
Well done Kathryn, really well done, on the Msylexia longlisting result! I think you should take that as very encouraging. And as Seamus Heaney said, 'Don't be afraid'. x
SUCH great achievements 🙌🙌🙌
Thank you! I'm sad not to be so involved in Poetry Pals though - it's such a good thing ! I do pop in every now and then xxx

How amazing! I think I’m a little reserved too, I tend to take out things that I feel a little uncomfortable about.

Thank you Bonnie ☺️ Yes the joy outweighs the sadness - always.

Thank you 😊 Yes a monthly check in seems doable - it's lovely to maintain the connections I think .

Thanks Jean ☺️ I'm often afraid but I don't let it stop me !
