Thank you for sharing that Kathryn, how wonderful,so interesting, so many lovely friendly people in the world, so pleased for you. An antidote to our media stories.
Thank you for reading! We saw so many interesting things and met so many interesting people but this was a stand out day! I operate on the hope that the majority of people are good and kind and cross my fingers we don't get into too much trouble. The only slightly unpleasant experience in Japan was with another tourist who are often the least palatable!
What a lovely, lovely experience! The best of traveling, like you say - not the things in the guide books but these experiences you could not ever expect or plan for.
Oo, this fills me with a mixture of awe and dread. As a fellow ME sufferer just the amount of time and energy spent is wonderful, some of that time buying you up and I'm in awe of your bravery. The neurodivergent me shudders in dread at meeting new people, going to new places and yet is also jealous. Beautifully told.
I'm very lucky that I have a partner who works with me to help these things happen. I'm the planner, he's the one saying "it'll be fine" and calming me when I am overwhelmed. The way I look at it is that I get just as exhausted and panicked about taking a trip to Tesco! It's not the simplest thing but it brings us both so much joy the challenges are worth working through. Could I do it on my own? Before M.E. yes - now - not a hope.
I was in Japan in 2008 and it’s still one of my trips ever.
I'd love to have gone back then ! It'd be interesting to see how you think it's changed if you ever return.

Thank you Bonnie! I'm glad to have you along!
