I can empathize to how medical conditions can interrupt your life, so I'm glad to hear even though you have an illness that you're still out here living life to its fullest! Japan looks like a beautiful place; I'd love to go there someday. I hope you feel better and enjoy your trip! :)

My dearest has Crohn’s and we’ve learned very much to build in days of rest. Even if that is an afternoon sat on his phone, it’s still rest. Otherwise he’ll be ruined at the end of a holiday. He’s anxious to travel to places further away because of it but we’re getting there. I hope you enjoy your rest and feel better soon.

Crohn's is such a hard thing to deal with - much power to you both in keeping going with seeing different places. Interestingly Japan is well geared for people with so many conditions - there seems to be a culture of care - at least for visitors.

Thanks Kathryn ☺️ we’ll keep going though he may have to avoid some of the more ‘off the grid’ places I’d love to see. That’s great to hear about Japan! We’re both desperate to go even though it worries him.

There are a number of very helpful groups on Facebook which could probably offer more specific advice. I did notice there are a lot of very clean public loos, and even the ones on the trains are well equipped (they even have facilities for osotomy bags). You're right that it would likely be different out of the cities. A tour company such as Inside Japan could probably offer better insight (I'm not affiliated with them - they just seem to have a good attitude towards people travelling with different needs. Hope you have a great time wherever you end up going - just being at the end of the road feels like a holiday on some days!
